Four share in scholarship memorializing Rob Henn

Caleb Richison, of Huntington, has been awarded the 2013 Rob Henn Athletic Scholarship through the Huntington County Community Foundation. Smaller scholarship amounts were also awarded to three past recipients - Jordan Sweet, Austin Shoemaker and Garrett Bracht.

Richison, a graduating senior at Huntington North High School, will be attending Wabash College majoring in math education. He is the son of Anna and Brad Richison, of Huntington.

A member of the National Honor Society, Richison is a three-sport athlete who also was involved in freshmen mentoring, Future Educators Association and Cadet Teaching.

His volunteer efforts involved Adopt-a-Highway, serving as hitting instructor at the HNHS baseball camp and Special Olympics.

Sweet, the 2012 recipient, is a sophomore at the University of Saint Francis majoring in accounting with a minor in criminal justice. He is the son of Susan and David Sweet, of Huntington.

Shoemaker, the 2011 recipient, is a junior at Trine University majoring in exercise science. He is the son of Laura and Steven Shoemaker of Huntington.

Bracht, the 2010 recipient, is a senior at Indiana University majoring in exercise science. He is the son of Shari and Daniel Bracht.

Family and friends who participated in the first annual golf outing in remembrance of Rob Henn established the Rob Henn Athletic Scholarship in 2008.

An annual golf outing continues to support this scholarship.

The scholarship is awarded to a student athlete from Huntington North who displays "unquestionable character, a high regard for teammates, and due respect for opponents."
