Kilander Scholarships will send two to Purdue

The Huntington County Community Foundation announces that Cheyanne Geideman, of Andrews, and Leslie Yarde, of Huntington, have been awarded 2013 Shirley and George Kilander Purdue University Scholarships to attend Purdue University, West Lafayette.

Geideman, a graduating senior at Huntington North High School, will be majoring in psychology. She is the daughter of Mona Geideman, of Huntington, and E. Scott Geideman, of Fort Wayne.

Geideman has been involved in Girl Scouts, Student Council, German Club, Leading Leos, Recreational Softball and Freshman Mentoring.

Her volunteer efforts have revolved around leadership positions in Girl Scouts and the Andrews Lions Club.

Yarde, also a graduating senior at Huntington North, will be majoring in law and society, with minors in forensics and Spanish.

She is the daughter of Nanette and Nick Yarde.

Yarde has been involved in Girl Scout Troop 20566, YMCA Clogging and 4-H. Her volunteer work has included Wabash River cleanup, set-up and takedown at the 4-H Fair and Girl Scout Day Camp.

Huntington residents Shirley and George Kilander established the scholarship in 2004 to provide financial assistance to graduating seniors attending Purdue University, West Lafayette, as full-time students.
George Kilander graduated from Purdue with a degree in engineering technology.
