Clear Creek High School Class of ‘63 holds 50-year reunion July 6 at LGC

The Clear Creek High School Class of 1963 held its 50-year reunion on July 6 at the LaFontaine Golf Club.
Out of 25 original class members, 17 were in attendance. A social hour was held before the dinner.
The invocation and remembrance of three deceased classmates, Mary Lou Montague Yordy, Larry Michel and Ellen Grossman Rector, was given by Rev. Richard LePage.
The welcome was extended by Nelda Burkhart Yavorsky, who also served as master of ceremonies.
A champagne toast was given by Gary and Janet Shoemaker Chapin. Carol Shriner Schweikhardt read the class prophecy.
Flowers in the school color of red and white centered the tables. A display board held class memorabilia along with yearbooks, yellow cord senior skirts and a senior sweater.
Door prizes were awarded to Mr. and Mrs. Gary Chapin, of Broken Arrow, OK, for being married for 49 years; Dr. Kirk Hippensteel, of Las Cruces, NM., who traveled the farthest; and Mark Bryd, for the oldest car.
Attending from Huntington were Mr. and Mrs. Dale Flora; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Zinsmeister; Mr. and Mrs. Gary Burkhart; Mr. and Mrs. Dean Teusch; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fruit; and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Bryd. Also attending from Huntington County were Fred and Carol Shriner Schweikhardt, of Warren.
Out-of-town members in attendance were Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Bollinger, of North Manchester; Dr. and Mrs. Kirk Hippensteel, of Las Cruces, NM; John and Susie Callison Latendresse, of Denver, CO; Gary and Janet Shoemaker Chapin, of Broken Arrow, OK; Nancy Hodges Kunberger, of Fort Wayne; Robert and Karen Knecht Wenger, of New Haven; Rev. and Mrs. Richard LePage, of Rockford, OH; Mr. and Mrs. David Norwood, of Stella, NC; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Schmidt, of Culver; and Chuck and Nelda Burkhart Yavorsky, of Inverness, FL.
Class members who were unable to attend were Genie Howenstine Gard, of Owenville; Arthur and Luann Beard Mayer, of Ocala, FL; Phillip and Julie West Kaylor, of Warren; Mr. and Mrs. Terry Hammel, of Jacksonville, FL; and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wohlford, of Lake James.
The remainder of the evening was spent socializing, reminiscing, viewing memorabilia and listening to the music of the '60s.
At the close each classmate was given a book composed by Nelda Yavorsky containing memorabilia of pictures, clippings, etc. of their years together as classmates.
