Zanesville council sets salaries for 2014

The Zanesville Town Council set salaries for 2014 during its Thursday, Oct. 17, meeting.

The salary ordinance, 2013-04, established next year's wages for council members, the town marshal and maintenance worker. A motion to approve the ordinance passed unanimously.

Council President John Schuhmacher addressed a bill the town received for work performed on the well in its maintenance building. The well's pump was replaced, and per an agreement with a homeowner whose house is connected to the well, the homeowner is to incur some of the costs of the repair.

Council agreed to send a letter to the homeowner to see that the agreement, which was made prior to the town's incorporation, was honored.

A citizen concerned about dilapidated structures in town asked council if there were currently plans to demolish any of them. Council indicated it was interested in doing so, but could not at the present time to due to the associated costs. Town Marshal Carl Collins said razing the structures in a less-costly manner was something he was currently researching.

Town Maintenance Worker Rod Miller requested signs for Rockhill and Wayne streets, as well as 30 MPH speed limit signs. The town is out of the latter, Miller noted.
