Robert Stowman Goff, 91, of Florida, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at 10:10 a.m. at Englewood Hospice House, Port Charlotte, FL.

Mr. Goff graduated from Huntington High School in 1941 and attended two years of college in Fort Wayne. He served in World War II as a member of the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He was recalled to active duty in 1950 and served in Germany during the Korean War. He moved to Chapman Lake in 1962 and to Florida in 2010.

He had been employed by Zimmer Inc., and Smith Tire. He also owned and operated Goff's Chapman Lake Marina, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Kings Gate Club, Kings Gate Bowling League, Kings Gate Tennis League and the Elks Lodge, all in Nokomis, FL. He was a member of American Legion Post 159 in Venice, FL.

He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Colfax to Bert and Gayle Stowman Goff. He married Margaret E. Outcelt on Aug. 19, 1950, in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a son, Kent C. Goff, of Warsaw; two daughters, Millicent (Gregory "Skip") Brant, of North Port, FL, and Monica (Dan) Fritzinger, of Warsaw; and two grandchildren, Dr. Ashley (Michael) Brant-Ferszt, of Longmeadow, MA, and Trevor Brant, of North Port, FL.

A service was held on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. John Hembree of First Christian Church, Warsaw, officiating. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw, with military honors conducted by American Legion Post 49 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1126, Warsaw.
