Evelyn Baker, 87, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at 1:51 p.m. at Parkview Huntington Hospital.

Mrs. Baker had been employed at Art Chemical and was a member of Mission House. She was active with the Republican Party.

She was born July 25, 1925, in Huntington to John and Ivy Elston Cross. She married Raymond Baker on Nov. 8, 1947, and he survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Candy Meekin, of Huntington; five sisters, Viola Newsome, Donna Tackett, Marge Harshman, Wanda (John) Hare and Molly (Frank) Strange, all of Huntington; a brother Donald "Bud" Cross, of Huntington; 11 grandchildren, Randy Meekin Jr., Nick Meekin, Adam Meekin, Samantha Meekin, Alex Meekin, Toma Bowers, Colt Bowers, Sierra Bowers, Larry "Punk" Bowers, Heather Mitton and Julie Arquette; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with a service following at 1 p.m., at Deal-Rice Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, 338 E. Washington St., Huntington. Rev. Jim Splawn will officiate. Burial will be at Zion Cemetery.
