Lynn A. Ryggs, 83, of rural LaFontaine, IN, died Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at his home.

Mr. Ryggs was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired in 1989 as a conservation officer for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

He was born Dec. 7, 1929, in Mishawaka to Laurence A. and Birdie Cochran Ryggs. He married Claudia J. Stoner on Dec. 26, 1974, and she survives.

Additional survivors include six sons, Larry A. (Linda) Ryggs, of Craig, AK; Jerry L. Ryggs, of Naukati, AK; Robert E. (LaDonna) Ryggs, of Greer, SC; Daniel L. (Maggie) Ryggs, of LaFontaine; and Eric L. (Angie) Ryggs and Matthew R. Ryggs both of Wabash; four daughters, Linda (Craig) Pickering, of Swayzee; Claudia (Mike) Zakrajsek, of Indianapolis; and Laura Hostetler and Sonja Ryggs, both of Wabash; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A service was held on Monday, Dec. 17, 2012, at the McDonald Funeral Home, LaFontaine Chapel, LaFontaine, with Rev. Scott Saltsman officiating. Burial was at the LaFontaine I.O.O.F. Cemetery, in LaFontaine.
