Jay Dee Shockome, 74, of Andrews, IN, died Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at 2:16 p.m. at Marion General Hospital.

Mr. Shockome graduated from Huntington Catholic High School in 1956 and served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1962. He was employed as a truck driver for Kroger Company for 34 years, retiring in 1997.

He was born Sept. 16, 1938, in Dallas Township, Huntington County, to Francis Eugene and Ruby J. Ogden Shockome. He married Shelby J. Williams on Nov. 5, 1960, in Huntington. His wife survives.

Additional survivors include a daughter, Denise (Robert) Taylor, of North Manchester; three sons, Timothy Shockome and Karl J. (Amy) Shockome, both of Andrews, and Tony (Rainelle) Shockome, of Columbia City; three sisters, Patricia Ellen (William E. Jr.) Wright, of Anderson; Debra (James) Lewis, of Huntington; and Mary Guei, of Florida; a brother, Daniel E. (Karen) Shockome, of Angola; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Calling is Wednesday, Jan. 9, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Deal-Rice Funeral Home, Andrews Chapel, 233 N. Main St., Andrews. A service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at 10 a.m., with calling one hour prior to the service, at Bethesda Free Will Baptist Church, Andrews, with Rev. Rolla Blair and Rev. Matt Snodderly officiating. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Andrews, with military rites conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.
