Burnell O. Brandeberry, 86, of Toledo, OH, and having ties to Huntington, IN, died Friday Jan. 25, 2013, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg.
Mr. Brandeberry graduated from Chesterfield (OH) High School in 1945. He earned a bachelor's degree in education from Huntington College in 1950 and a master's degree in education administration from Bowling Green State University in 1959. He taught and served as principal at several Ohio schools. He served in the United States Army Air Corps as a tail gunner during World War II.
He was a trustee of Huntington College from 1972 to1984. He was a member of Gideons International and a member and deacon of Westgate Chapel, Toledo, OH. He was a member of the American Legion and Sons of the American Revolution.
He was born July 3, 1926, in Hudson, MI, to Chester O. and Hazel M. Durbin Brandeberry. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ardith Brandeberry.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Kathy (Harold) Thomas and Karen Brandeberry (Anthony) McClain; two sons, Gary Brandeberry and Gene (Yvonne) Brandeberry; six grandchildren, Brian (Kimberly) Thomas, Brad (Sheila) Thomas, Sarah (Matthew) Hemker, Jacob Brandeberry, Grace Brandeberry and Isaiah Brandeberry; a step-grandson, Marc (Emily) McClain; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker Funeral Home, 5155 Sylvania Ave., Toledo, OH. A service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 11 a.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Waldron Cemetery, Waldron, MI.
