James E. Bannister, 82, died Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Huntington, IN.
Mr. Bannister graduated from Bippus High School in 1949. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a sergeant in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He had been employed as a job setter at Delco Electronics, Kokomo, for 30 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of UAW Local 292, Kokomo.
He was born Aug. 19, 1930, in Tipton to Floyd and Norma Rigor Bannister.
Survivors include three sons, James B. (Cheryl) Bannister and Timothy E. Bannister, both of Bippus, and William M. (Sherry) Bannister, of Huntington; a daughter, Brigitte A. (Michael) Sell, of Bippus; a stepson, Paul M. Burkett, of Kokomo; a brother, Ralph Bannister, of Clyde, OH; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, March 13, 2013, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A service will be held at the mortuary on Thursday, march 14, 2013, at 10a.m., with Rev. Larry Holderbaum officiating. Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Huntington, with graveside military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2689.
