Karen L. Cummings, 56, of Marion, IN, and having relatives in Huntington, IN, died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013, in Miami County.
Mrs. Cummings was a graduate of Marion High School and received her B.S. in nursing from Marion College. She had been with Marion General Hospital for 17 years as an intensive care unit registered nurse. She had been employed with the Miami Correctional Facility for 12 years as an RN, with the last five years as director of nursing. Since 2002, she had been employed with Corizon Medical Services as a regional assistant director of nursing for the Northern Indiana Correctional Facilities.
She attended Eastview Wesleyan Church in Gas City.
She was born July 10, 1957, in Shreveport, LA, to Frank William and Betty Wilson Harmon. Her mother survives in Marion.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Amber (Jerry) Cassidy and Aimee (Jacob) Rice, both of Marion; two brothers, Steve (Sherri) Harmon, of Georgia, and Frank (Faye) Rushing, of Arkansa; and a twin sister, Kathy (Dave) Goodson, of Huntington.
Calling will be Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 pm. at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion. A funeral service will be on Thursday, Sept.5, 2013, at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Atkinson officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Huntington Huntington County.
