Lilah E. Karst, 88, of Fort Wayne, IN, and a former resident of Huntington, IN, died Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 6:32 p.m. at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.
Mrs. Karst graduated from Huntington High School in 1943. She worked on the family farm for many years and had also worked at Hunckler Products in the late 1970s and early 1980s. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Rosary Sodality. She was also a volunteer at Norwood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born April 6, 1925, in Huntington to James E. and Nellie Voght Cook. She married Richard T. Karst on Nov. 22, 1944, in Huntington. Her husband preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1983.
Survivors include five sons, Gregory (Carol) Karst and Donald Karst, both of Huntington; Vincent (Suzy) Karst, of Holland, MI; Steven (Rosemary) Karst, of Huntertown; and John (Deb) Karst of Ada, MI; three daughters: Donna (Roger Brinkman) Karst, of Fort Wayne; and Carol Cocklin and Debra Eckert, both of Huntington; a brother, Robert (Margie) Cook, of Huntington; more than 30 grandchildren; more than 40 great-grandchildren and one-great-great grandson.
Calling is Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel, 2901 Guilford St., Huntington. A service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at 10 a.m. at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry St., Huntington. Rev. Ron Rieder will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
