Jerry L. Shatzer, 79, of Albion, IN, and a native of Roanoke, IN, died Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Shatzer lived most of his life in Rome City and moved to Albion seven years ago. He retired in 1990 from General Electric and had also worked as a driver for Indiana Auto Auction, in Fort Wayne.
He was born July 3, 1934, in Roanoke to Ralph and Goldie Garrison Shatzer. He married Beverly Franks on Jan. 22, 1955, in Roanoke, and she survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Jerry (Marilyn) Shatzer, of Tri Lakes; three daughters, Denise Shatzer and Loretta McKenzie, both of Albion, and Tamra (Robert) Kempher, of Fort Wayne; three brothers, Robert (Marie) Shatzer, of Fort Wayne; Fred (Janet) Shatzer, of Phoenix, AZ; and Urban Shatzer, of Florida; four grandchildren, Jackie Waterman, Jerry Ebey, Justin Ebey and Benjamin Rial; and nine great-grandchildren.
A service was held on Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at Brazzell Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, with Noel G. Reed officiating. Burial will be at Covington Memorial Cemetery, Fort Wayne.
