Robert D. "Bob" Pike, 82, of Huntington, IN, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at 9:24 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Pike graduated from high school in Janesville, WI, in 1949 and earned a Bachelor of Science in education at LaCrosse College in LaCrosse, WI. He retired from Sears in Huntington after 20 years as manager. He worked at the Homier Distributing Retail Store in Huntington for more than 12 years.
He was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder. He was a past president of Huntington County Chamber of Commerce. He served as a member of Huntington Lions Club and Huntington Kiwanis. American Business Women's Association named him "boss of the year." He coached Huntington County Baseball at Gemmer Field.
He was born Jan. 27, 1931, in Beloit, WI, to Donald Robert and Helen Judith Erlandson Pike. He married Charlotte Dahl on June 18, 1955, in LaCrosse, WI. She preceded him in death in August 1995. He married Betty Ann Planck on April 18, 1998, in Huntington, and she survives.
Additional survivors are three sons, Eric Pike, of Markle; Paul (Leanne) Pike, of Huntington; and Matthew Pike, of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Danna (Michael) Cotton, of Huntington, and Lisa (Roger) Oakes, of LaOtto; two stepdaughters, Kim (Sam) Johnson, of West Lafayette, and Pam (Tom) Powers, of Brookfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling is Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the mortuary, with one hour of visitation prior. Rev. Dr. Richard Lofgren will be officiating.
