Jean Esther Phenicie, 89, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at 6:54 a.m .at Parkview Regional Hospital, in Fort Wayne, IN.
She was born June 12, 1924, in Servia, to Scott and Iva Aughinbaugh Orr. She married James L. Phenicie on June 21, 1947. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2007.
Mrs. Phenicie graduated from Chester High School, North Manchester, in 1942, and from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, IL, in 1947. She attended Charity Baptist Church, where she was the pianist. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include five sons, Daniel (Susan) Phenicie, of Tipton; James (Rebecca) Phenicie, of San Diego, CA; John (Patricia) Phenicie and Mark (Gale) Phenicie, both of Fort Wayne; and Nathan Phenicie, of Union Grove, WI; a daughter: Beth (Zis) Phenicie Milentis, of Fort Wayne; a sister, Virginia Coplea, of Wabash; 16 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a great-great grandchild.
Calling is Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at McElhaney-Hart Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson St., Huntington. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia.
