Karen J. Helm, 76, a former resident of Montpelier, IN, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, at 5:20 p.m. at Markle Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Markle.
Mrs. Helm was a graduate of Hartford City High School and had worked at the Blackford County Courthouse. She was a member of the Nimble Neighbors Home Economics Club, of Blackford County, and the Markle United Methodist Church. She formerly attended the Fairview United Brethren Church, in Hartford City.
She was born May 7, 1937, in Three Rivers, MI, to Chester and Mary Mattank Berrier. She married Dale L. Helm on April 4, 1959, in Hartford City. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1991.
Survivors include two daughters, Allison Helm, of Huntington, and Leslie (Steve) Douglass, of Markle; a brother, Hal (Diana) Berrier, of Jenison, MI; a sister, Cathy (Robert) Bridges, of Atlanta, GA; and two granddaughters, Kaitlynne Douglas, of Markle, and Stephanie Douglass, of West Lafayette.
Calling is Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Walker & Glancy Funeral Home, 109 W. Windsor St., Montpelier. A service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at 3 p.m., with calling an hour prior to the service, with Rev. Steven McPeek officiating. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery, in Montpelier.
