Ruth Marie Bole, 87, of Van Buren, IN, died Friday, June 13, 2014, at 10:09 a.m. at Heritage Pointe, in Warren.
Mrs. Bole was a member of Brown-Doyle Unit 368 of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as parliamentarian of the local unit for 30 years. She was also a past president of the Fifth District and held many other leadership positions at the local, district and state levels. Her political action activities earned her a listing in "Who's Who of Midwest Politics. She spearheaded the development of Rudd Park, in Van Buren. He worked for the Eastbrook Community Schools for more than 20 years and was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church.
She was born June 25, 1926, in Grant County to Lewis L. and Mary Esther "Marm" Bragg White. She married Gerald L. "Dutch" Bole on March 11, 1944, and he survives.
Additional survivors include two daughters, Penny Elaine, of Bloomington, and Brenda D. Bole, of Port Townsend, WA; a son, Garry (Cheryl) Bole, of Indianapolis; a brother, Burl (Betty) White, of Marion; four grandchildren, Thomas Welch, of Louisiana, and Timothy Welch, Jeffery (Danielle) Welch and Wendy Welch, all of Bloomington; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, June 21, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at the Van Buren United Methodist Fellowship Hall, 108 S. Second St, Van Buren. Rev. Leon Pomeroy will officiate. Interment will be at the Van Buren Cemetery, in Van Buren.
