Richard L. "Dick" Thomas Sr., 82, of Uniondale, IN, and having family members in Markle, IN, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Visiting Nurse Hospice Home, Fort Wayne.
Mr. Thomas graduated in 1948 from East Union High School, Wells County. He was a full-time farmer and was a school bus driver for the Northern Wells Community Schools for 12 years. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, stationed in Garmish, Germany.
He was born Jan.15, 1931, in Wells County to Vaughn K. and Sadonna Platt Thomas. He married Carol Sue Will on April 15, 1956, at the Markle United Methodist Church. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include three sons, Dale (Kim) Thomas and Richard Thomas Jr., both of Uniondale, and Michael Thomas, of Tempe, AZ; two daughters, Kim Mitchell, of Fort Wayne, and Maridona Sue "Susie" Thomas, of Markle; two brothers, William (Marsha) Thomas and Robert (Martha Jean) Thomas, both of Markle; a sister, Jean Kleinschmidt, of Michigan City; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Calling is Saturday, May 25, 2013, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a memorial service following at 2 p.m., at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. The family will hold private interment at the Horeb Cemetery.
