The Huntington County law firm of Bowers, Brewer, Garrett & Wiley, LLP, has announced the recipients of its 2013 educational scholarships.
Drew Schnitz received the James W. Bowers Scholarship in honor of the late James W. Bowers.
Rebecca Smith and Caleb Richison also received scholarships to be used toward their continuing education.
Schnitz is the son of Mike and Christine Schnitz, of Huntington, and plans to attend Rose Hulman majoring in engineering. He has been active at Huntington North High School in football, baseball, National Honor Society, class council, Student Athletic Board, DECA and Campus Life.
He has also participated in 4-H, peer tutors, Kids Night Out, HNHS baseball camp, Forks of the Wabash Pioneer Festival and Homier and Clear Creek ball diamond maintenance. He is a member of the First Church of the Nazarene youth group and is a Junior Rotarian.
Smith is the daughter of Jon and Krystal Smith, of Warren, and will be majoring in animal sciences at Purdue University.
She has been involved at Huntington North High School with volleyball, softball, FFA and freshman mentoring. She has also been involved with 4-H, Knight-Bergman Center basketball, Warren softball and Mt. Etna United Methodist Church youth group.
Richison is the son of Brad Richison and Anna Richison, of Huntington, and plans to attend Manchester University majoring in education.
At Huntington North, Richison has been active in football, basketball, baseball and freshman mentoring. He has participated in Adopt-a-Highway, baseball camp, Special Olympics, Summit City Slugger Day and the Quarterback Club golf outing.
