Richard Haines, 92, of Huntington, IN, died Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014, at The Heritage of Huntington.
Mr. Haines graduated from Huntington High School in 1940. He was employed as a tool and die maker at The Maco Corp. for 39 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Peter's First Community Church, in Huntington.
He was a member and past president of the YMCA Exchange Club. He coached Pony League and for Huntington County Baseball for 29 years, serving as president for many years.
He was born Nov. 23, 1921, in Huntington to George F. and Frances Mae Mow Haines. He married Lavonne E. Goebel on Feb. 8, 1976, in Huntington, and she survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, William S. Haines, of Roanoke, and John F. (Diane) Haines, of Indianapolis; two daughters, Richardine "Ricki" (William) Roessler, of Severna Park, MD, and Jo Anne (Tim) McKinzie, of Frankfort; two stepsons, Richard (Michele) Goebel, of Monticello, and Robert Goebel, of Indianapolis; a stepdaughter, Melony (Dave) Nicoli, of Glenwood, MD; a brother, Schuyler A. (Janie) Haines, of Crawfordsville; a sister, Eva Ervin, of Tucson, AZ; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and four stepgreat-grandchildren.
His first wife, Marjorie Spencer Lowe, of Huntington, also survives.
Calling is Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m., with a service following at 2 p.m., at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 W. Park Drive, Huntington. Rev. Richard Strick will officiate.
