CMS volleyball teams fall in their own invitational championship games

The Crestview Middle School volleyball teams lost in the championship games of both grades at their own Crestview Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The CMS seventh-graders started off with a 25-16, 25-5 win over Manchester, but fell to Lincoln in the championship, 25-19, 16-25, 8-15.

Katie Johnson had 20 points and two kills and Karmen Koch had eight points and six kills against Manchester. Kaylee Platt led against Lincoln with 11 points and three kills, and Peyton Butler had nine points and four kills.

Lincoln defeated Riverview, 25-17, 25-13, to advance to the championship.
Riverview dropped Manchester in the consolation game, 25-20, 25-16.

For the Cougar eighth-graders, Crestview defeated Manchester in the opener, 25-24, 25-22, and then lost to Lincoln in the championship, 22-25, 11-25.

Allyson Mettler led CMS in the opener with five points and two kills, and Julia Bailey and Kylie Kaylor added five and four kills, respectively. Mettler had four kills and two points and Kaylor had two kills and three pints in the championship battle.

Lincoln beat Riverview, 25-13, 25-17 to get to the championship game.

Manchester beat Riverview in the consolation game, 25-23, 25-24.
