HU men's tennis team falls in first round at conference

The Huntington University men's tennis team lost to defending conference champion Spring Arbor, 2-7, in the first round of the Crossroads League Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 2.

Earning the HU wins were the number one doubles team of Vlad Khudziy and Jose Hungria and fourth singles player Diego Inurritegui.

Khudziy and Hungria got a measure of revenge as they beat Thomas Caldanne and Aaron Mayes, 8-6, to stop a four-match losing streak to the Spring Arbor duo.

Inurritegui topped Nathan Scholten, 6-4, 6-2, to finish 9-0 in conference play.
The Foresters dropped to 5-7 on the season.

Khudziy at first singles lost to Caldanne, 6-7, 3-6, and Hungria at second singles lost to David Darling, 2-6, 2-6. Joseph Straznicky at third singles fell by the same score to Mayes, and Arjun Bhalla at fifth singles was a 2-6, 5-7 loser to Michael Darling. Zakk Sparks at sixth singles fell 3-6, 1-6 to Matt Wottrinski.

Innuritegui and Straznicky lost at second doubles, 6-8, to David Darling and Scholten, and Jacob Cross and Sparks lost at third doubles to John Hall and Jessie DeBoer, 8-9.
