Viking boys win NCC cross country championship

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity cross country team won the North Central Conference championship on Tuesday, Oct. 2 at Indiana Wesleyan University, in Marion, with a score of 30.

Cordell Lewis was the race's top finisher at 16:47.88.

Charlie Mettler finished second for the Vikings at 17:17.47, good for fifth place overall, followed by teammate Jacob Ambriole at 17:28.19 and sixth overall. Finishing fourth for HNHS and seventh overall with a time of 17:29.82 was Matt Dewitt, who rounds out the Vikings finishing in the race's top ten.

Logansport came in second, with 72, and New Castle was third, at 88, backed by the performances of Tanner Dye and Sam Willis, who finished second and third, respectively, behind Lewis.

HNHS head coach Curtis Hines won Coach of the Year honors.
