Visiting Fort Wayne South Side and rainy conditions conspired to bring the Huntington North High School varsity football team's season to an end on Friday, Oct. 19, as the Vikings lost their Class 5A Sectional 3 game, 14-6.

The Archers took advantage of a downpour that favored the rushing game over the passing attack and piled up 181 yards on the ground, with Domonique Gleason, Donovan Clark and Aaron Thomas gaining 99, 56 and 30 yards respectively.

Viking quarterback Drew Schnitz, heading into the game with 27 touchdowns against six interceptions, sturggled in the rain and came up empty on six passing attempts, with four interceptions.

The Vikes, 5-5, got 129 yards on the ground, with Austin Rosen collecting 68 on 13 carries and Braydin Stell getting 51 on eight carries, including the Vikings' lone touchdown, which came in the third quarter and cut the South Side lead to 14-6.

Clark and Thomas each rushed for a first half score to give the Archers, 4-6, their lead.

Senior defense lineman Austin Garde led the Viking defnse with eight tackles, including seven solos.
