Host Anderson scorched the nets to the tune of 67 percent on Friday, Jan. 11, and sent the Huntington North High School boys' varsity basketball team home with a 67-43 loss.
The Indians, 9-2, hit 23 of 34 shots from the field for 67.6 percent, and were never challenged by the Vikings after hanging a 23-6 second quarter on the board for a 39-17 lead.
Trenton Kern led the Vikings, 7-6, with 12 points. Matt Hogan scored nine.
The Vikings hit 13 of 31 shots from the field for 41.9 percent.
Jalin Beard scored 22 points on 9 of 11 marksmanship to lead Anderson. Trey Boyd hit 7 of 9 shots on the way to 16 points.
The Indians beat the Vikings on the boards as well, 36-24. Kyle Platt had seven rebounds to lead HNHS.
Anderson led after the first quarter, 16-11, before doing its big damage in the second frame. The Indians got the lead as high as 26 points in the third quarter before settling for a 49-29 lead heading into the final frame.
The Viking junior varsity also lost, falling 56-32, as the Anderson JV hit 62.5 percent of its shots on 25 of 40 marksmanship.
Jordan Seabolt had 10 points to top HNHS, and Luke Stroud added eight.
