Viking gymnasts earn win at Warsaw

Huntington North High School varsity gymnasts took firsts in two individual events, leading the team to a close win over the host Lady Tigers team in a meet Thursday, Jan. 24, in Warsaw.

The Vikings finished the meet with 97.6 points to the Lady Tigers' 96.05 total.
Viking Mavin Chaney led the way on vault with a score of 7.75, with teammates Hannah Bomba, Carly Snyder and Robyn Karst, all scoring at 8.5, tying for second place. Mikayla Carpenter placed fifth for HNHS.

Carpenter won the first place spot in floor exercise for the Vikings, scoring a 7.8. Snyder was close behind her, finishing in second place with a 7.75. Chaney was fourth, Alexa Shoemaker fifth and Karst sixth.

In bars, Bomba turned in a second place, with Chaney fourth and Snyder fifth.
Carpenter and Chaney were second and third, respectively on beam, with Snyder placing sixth.

The Vikings' junior varsity team defeated Warsaw 84-25.3, with HNHS gymnasts first in all four events - Erica Friese in vault, Karst on bars, Bomba on beam and Allie Christian in floor.
