HU netwomen drop Hanover, 6-3

The Huntington University women's tennis team topped visiting Hanover College, 6-3, on Saturday, Sept. 28.

The Foresters, 6-6, picked up four wins in singles play, led by Celine Rongos' 6-2, 6-0 decision over Mackenzie Spicer at first singles. Morgan Bemisderfer added a 7-5, 6-0 win versus Mallory Noble at second singles, Jessica Abel blanked Kalynne Miller at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0 and Ciara Smith hung a 6-3, 6-4 loss on Shelby Williamson at fifth singles.

In doubles play, Rongos and Bemisderfer dispatched Spicer and Dani Miller in the first match, 8-1, and Smith and Stacie Cressman conquered Molly Miller and Emily Miller, 8-4, in the third match to round out the team's wins.

Katie Johnson suffered a 5-7, 1-6 setback to Allison Poston at third singles, Cressman retired to Kathleen Brinegar at sixth singles and Johnson and Abel fell to Poston and Mallory Noble at second doubles, 2-8.
