HU bowling men fifth at Adrian's AC Open

The Huntington University men's varsity bowling team finished fifth with 6,697 pins at Adrian College's AC Open at the Lewanee Recreation Center, in Adrian, MI, on Saturday, Nov. 16.

The Foresters were led by Connor Brown and Seth Walker who finished third and fourth, respectively, to become the first two Foresters in the men's program to earn all-tournament team honors.

Brown bowled a high game of 236 on his way to tallying 843 pins for a 210.75 average while Walker topped out at 840 pins for a 210.0 average with a high game of 278.

Joe Miller averaged a 187.75 to finish 22nd. Adam Harris-Shoemaker finished three spots behind Miller for 25th with a 187.75 average.

Other varsity bowlers included Dan Miller with a four-game average of 169.8, James Knapp with a three-game average of 168.3 and Derek Becker, one game of 216.

Eighth-ranked Toledo topped the men with 7,216 pins followed by 11th-ranked Saginaw Valley State, 6,841; Bowling Green, 6,773; Youngstown State, 6,732; Huntington, 6,697; Michigan State, 6,579; Alma, 6,250; Michigan, 6,152; Oberlin, 6,239; and Eastern Michigan, 5,619.

Huntington University's junior varsity squad finished fifth out of six teams with 5,871 pins. Tyler Neff claimed 23rd with his 187.75 average and Jess Meyers registered a 156.0 average for 55th. Spencer Brewster, with a 149.25 average, and Emilio Chamtaca, with a 148.50 average, finished 58th and 59th, respectively.

Saginaw Valley State C took top honors in JV action with 6,557 pins.
