Viking cagers to 2-0 with win over Mississinewa

Caleb Landrum scored 14 points and Matt Hogan had 13 as the Huntington North High School boys' varsity basketball team upped its record to 2-0 with a 52-32 win over host Mississinewa on Saturday, Nov. 30.
The Vikings took control from the start, building an 11-6 lead after one period of play and stretching it to 24-14 by halftime. They were up 38-25 heading into the final quarter.
Keaton Irwin added nine points for HNHS and Konner Platt tallied eight.
The Vikings were solid in all phases of the game. They shot 14 of 31 from the field for 45.2 percent, including 5 of 12 from beyond the arc for 41.7 percent, and hit all nine free throws tried for 100 percent. They built a 40-19 backboard advantage and had 11 assists for their 14 field goals.
Kyle Platt led the board efforts with nine rebounds, followed by Keenan Leichty with seven and Cody Adams with six. Hogan was the assists leader with four.
Seth McPheron was the only Indian to reach double figures, scoring 14 points.
The Viking junior varsity evened its mark at 1-1 with a 42-39 win.
Granville Shultz had 12 points and Luke Stroud scored 10 to lead HNHS. Stroud also grabbed eight rebounds.
