Lady Vike netgirls get first win

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team got its first win of the season by defeating visiting Bellmont, 4-1, on Thursday, April 17.

The Lady Vikings evened their record at 1-1 by getting wins from No. 1 singles player Kylie Frederick, Emily Eherenman at third singles, the No. 1 doubles team of Ana Eckert and Emily Karst and the second doubles team of Sara Fryman and Alisha Leffler.

Frederick ran past Kylie Beery at No. 1 singles, winning 6-0, 6-1, while Eherenman took a three-setter from Brielle Adams at No. 3, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Eckert and Karst dominated Miranda Voglewede and Macy Phegley at first doubles, 6-1, 6-2, and Fryman and Leffler laid a 6-3, 6-3 defeat on Mindy Loshe and Lauren Albert.

Casey Richman at second singles suffered the Lady Vikes' lone loss, falling to Jenna Frenwick, 3-6, 1-6.

The lady Vikes' junior varsity won eight of 10 matches to claim the team victory.

In singles, Jessica Onate defeated Mikayla Voglewede, 8-7; Katie Hunt topped Courtney Schultz, 8-4; Alyssa Hewson defeated Bryanna Sheets, 8-6; Olivia Bowman beat Audrey Thomas, 8-6; and Anna Doctor ran past Marilyn Melcher, 6-0.

In doubles, Michaela Cook and Laresa Lund topped Kaley Butler and Brooke Sanderson, 8-2; Haley Hart and Maddie Phillips tagged Christina Ysidron, 8-6; and Haley Hart and Maddie Phillips beat Rylee Hamilton and Maggie Meintire, 6-2.
