Lady Vikes win junior varsity softball tourney

The Huntington North High School junior varsity softball team hosted and won the HNHS JV Invitational on Saturday, April 19, by defeating Carroll, 13-4, in the first game and stopping Norwell, 18-8, in the second game.

Hannah Middlebrooks was the winning pitcher in each game for HNHS, now 4-0. Middlebrooks struck out 11 and gave up eight hits in the first game, and came back with nine strikeouts and 10 hits allowed in the second game.

Hitting stars in the first contest were Erin Burke, Jordyn Poulson, Aubrie Eckert, MacKenzi Cannici, Middlebrooks and Abby Kindler, each with two hits.

Eckert and Brooke Shoemaker each had three hits in the second game, and Kelsie Vogleman added two.
