Grant Meese was the only Huntington North High School golfer to break 80 as the Vikings placed sixth out of nine teams at their own Huntington North Viking Invitational on Saturday, April 26, at Norwood Golf Course.

Meese carded a 78 to just miss out on getting a top seven individual finish and earning hardware for the event. That helped the Huntington White squad to a score of 341, 33 shots behind the winning score posted by Center Grove Red.

Wes Kennell of Center Grove White shot an even par 72 for medalist honors.

Zac Tackett was second scorer for Huntington North White with an 85, and Jacob Vinson was third with an 87. Nolan Betterely carded a 91 for the final scoring spot, and Michael May was non-scorer with a 93.

Alex Bickel shot a 99 to lead Huntington North Red to a ninth place finish with a 409. Zane Cozad shot a 102, Conner Hoke had a 103 and Mason Martin shot a 105.

Dan Jacobs was non-scorer with a 113.

The two Center Grove teams tied for the top spot, which went to Red on fifth golfer score. Culver was third with a 319, Yorktown was fourth with a 324 and Oak Hill was fifth with a 336.

Zach Carrabine of Center Grove Red was runner-up with a score of 75. Culver's Ben Sharff was third with a 76, and shooting a 77 for fourth through seventh, respectively, were Austin Crowder and Chris Heck of Center Grove Red, Hayden Martin of Center Grove White and Eric Short of Yorktown.
