Viking trackboys beat Bellmont

The Huntington North High School boys' varsity track and field team topped a variety of events to beat host Bellmont, 78-54, on Thursday, May 1.

Colt Ropp highlighted the Vikings' efforts in field events with wins in both discus and shot put. In the former event, the junior took gold with a toss of 141-7 and won the latter with a heave of 40-7.5.

Sophomore Bailey Fisher rounded out Huntington North's first place finishes in the meet's field competition with a bound of 18-4 in long jump.

Senior Jake Shaw took the No. 1 spot in the 100-meter dash with a clocking of :12.1 while sophomore Isaac Smith outpaced the field in the 200-meter dash with a time of :24.8. Shaw and Smith also teamed up with senior Jordan Utter and junior Drew Fawcett to take the 400-meter relay in :45.5.

Senior Luke Doughty crossed the line in the 400-meter dash in :54.6 to earn gold and also joined with senior Charles Mettler, junior Christian Jones and freshman Cody Jones to top the 1,600-meter relay in 3:45.7.

Senior Andrew Sizemore claimed first in the 300-meter hurdles in :46.8 and junior Austin Lange was the top man in the 800-meter run in 2:10.6 to round out the Vikings' wins.
