Hiple blast crescendo note as Lady Vikes crunch Marion

Alyssa Hiple's three-run homer provided the crescendo note for the Huntington North High School varsity softball team as it crunched visiting Marion, 16-5, in five innings on Tuesday, May 6.

Hiple, a senior, wound up with two hits and four runs batted in as HNHS improved to 14-5 on the season, 3-0 in the North Central Conference.

Hiple's hitting helped Mikayla Gray to her six win against two losses this season. The right-hander went the first three innings and yielded three runs, one earned, on two hits, with four strikeouts and one walk. Hannah Middlebrooks pitched the last two frames, yielding one run on one hits, with one strikeouts and no walks.

The Lady Vikes banged out 14 hits on the afternoon, with Alexa Hill, Shania Bruce, Makayla Whaley and Kaylynn Rosen all having a pair of safeties. Tiffany Burke, Hill and Natasha Grover each knocked in two runs.

The Lady Vikes knocked out four doubles on the afternoon, with Bruce, Rosen, Hill and Butler getting the two-baggers.
