Walker Spahr knocked in five runs and Derek Snyder added three to lead the Huntington North High School varsity baseball team past visiting Warsaw, 15-9, on Thursday, May 9.

The Vikings, 14-4, broke open a 4-4 game with five runs in the fourth inning and another six in the fifth to make a winner of Kory Goodrich for the third time in four decisions.

Spahr, a junior had a two-run double in the fourth inning and then matched that in the fifth inning. Snyder, who finished with three of the Vikings' 16 hits in the contest, hit a two-run two-bagger in the fifth. Snyder also had a triple on the day.

Goodrich, a sophomore, aided his own cause with a home run, and got the win on the mound with five innings of work, yielding eight runs, but only four earned, on 11 hits, with six strikeouts and no walks.

Connor West and Mitch Hughes both had three hits and two RBI, and Goodrich had two hits.
The Vikings took a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, with RBI going to Hughes and Spahr. Warsaw took the lead at 4-3 in the gtop of the second, but HNHS tied things in the bottom of the frame as Hale singled and moved to second on a sacrifice, took third on a wild pitch and strode home on Snyder's triple.

Goodrich broke the tie by planting a leadoff homer to start the Viking fourth. Devon Goelz had a run-scoring triple later in the frame, Hughes had a run-scoring hit and Spahr brought two home with his first double.

Goodrich opened the Viking fifth with a two-bagger, and after Hale walked and Easley had an infield hit, Snyder knocked a bases-load double for two runs. Goelz took an HBP and West brought home two with a single before Spahr got his second two-run two-bagger of the game.
