Salamonie, Andrews, Northwest set student orientation sessions

Salamonie, Andrews and Northwest schools have announced orientation sessions for their students.

Salamonie students in grades six, seven and eight along with their parents are invited to attend Orientation Night on Wednesday, Aug. 12, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Students will receive their class schedules and can locate their lockers.

All Andrews Elementary students must register for the 2009-10 school year. The office is open between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday to do so.

The school will be open on Wednesday, Aug. 12 (the day before school starts), at 6 p.m. for students to bring in school supplies, see their classrooms and get bus information.

There will be a Parent Work Day at 8 a.m. on Aug. 22 at the school.

Northwest Elementary will host an open "Back to School Night" on Wednesday, Aug. 12, where parents can come and go from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This is for all children who plan on attending Northwest for this upcoming year and their parents.

This gives students the opportunity to meet their child's teacher, bring in school supplies, get bus route information and bring any needed medications to have available in the health clinic.

This helps create a smooth transition into the new school year, school officials say.
