Paving of streets throughout Huntington begins Monday, Aug. 17

Smooth streets are ahead for motorists who have spent the summer rumbling through, and around, the areas affected by a sewer separation project.

Dave Schoeff, Huntington's director of engineering, has announced that milling and paving on those streets is scheduled for this week.

"Certain areas may be closed to traffic for long periods of time, so please avoid the areas if at all possible," Schoeff says.

Brooks Construction will be doing the street work, and the schedule may change because of the weather.
The crew plans to mill the streets on Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 17 and 18, beginning on West State Street from Ind.-5 to Oak Street.

The milling work will continue on:
• Market Street, from Poplar Street to Oak Street.
• Oak Street, from Market Street to West Park Drive.
• Crescent Avenue, from Oak Street to Polk Street.
• Polk Street, from Crescent Avenue to West Park Drive.
• West Park Drive, from Oak Street to Poplar Street.
• Poplar Street, from West Park Drive to Market Street.
• Warren Street, from West Market Street to West Park Drive.

Paving will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 18, with streets being paved in the same order in which they were milled. The paving is scheduled to continue through Thursday, Aug. 20.
