HNHS boys fourth, girls seventh at NCC meet

The Huntington North High School boys' swim team placed fourth and the HNHS girls' swim team placed seventh in their respective competitions at the North Central Conference Swim Championships on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Fishers High School.

The boys' team scored 242 points behind second place finishes by Skyler Ruschhaupt and Daniel Scher, while the girls' team scored 193 points, led by the third place finish of the 200-yeard medley relay team of Mariah Patrick, Cassie Hacker, Kailtyn Batt and Sara Karst.

Ruschhaupt was runner-up in both the 200-yard individual medley and 100-yard breaststroke. Scher finished second in the 50-yard freestyle, and also added a fourth in the 100-yard freestyle.

Ruschhaupt and Scher were half of the third place team in the 200-yard medley relay, teaming with Shaun Marion and Chris Royer. Ruschhaupt, Scher and Royer teamed with Casey Dubuc for fourth in the 200-year freestyle relay.

For the girls, the team of Mariah Patrick, Cassie Hacker, Kaitlyn Batt and Sara Karst placed third in the 200-yard medley. After that the best an HNHS swimmer could earn was fourth, Karst in the 500-yard freestylePatrick in the 100-yard backstroke and Hacker 100-yard breaststroke.

Both teams are in action again Tuesday, Jan. 20, at South Adams.
