Hiple leads HNHS wrestlers to third at invite

Led by 140-pound champion Brant Hiple, the Huntington North High School wrestling team placed third at the Concordia Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Hiple led HNHS to 168 team points by collecting two pins and a decision on the way to winning his weight class.

Carroll won the nine-team meet with 233 points, Homestead was second with 218 and Marion finished fourth with 166.

Colin Downey at 125 pounds and Jamie Kuehl at 171 earned second place finishes for HNHS. Rob Newsome at 119 and heavyweight Nick Cooper took thirds, and fourth place went to Logan Randle at 112, Alex Robinson at 130, Tyler Stoffel at 135 and Thomas Abbott at 145.

Clinton Rosen at 152 and Kenny Morton at 215 took fifth and Lukas Wygant at 160 placed sixth.

The team will compete in NCC tournament on Jan. 24, at New Castle.
