Swim wins, diving sweep not enough for HNHS girls swim team

Wins by swimmers Mariah Patrick, Sara Karst and Cassie Hacker and a diving sweep weren't enough for the Huntington North High School girls varsity swim team as it lost to host South Adams, 105-78 on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

Patrick won the 50-yard freestyle, in :27.53, and Karst took the 100-yard freestyle, in :59.97. Hacker took home honors in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:14.99.

Amanda Kaiser scored 111 points to lead the sweep in diving. Rosemary Kaiser placed second and Taylor Meharg took third.

Patrick, Karst and Hacker also swam legs on two winning relay teams. The trio teamed with Kaitlyn Batt for wins in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yerd freestyle relay.

Other top finishes for HNHS came from Batt, third in the 200-yeard freestyle and third in the 100-yard butterfly; Karst, second in the 200-yard individual medley; and Patrick, second in the 100-yard backstroke.

The girls will swim at Marion on Tuesday, Jan. 27.
