Pauline Hoover

Pauline Hoover, 92, a resident of the Timbercrest Senior Living Community in North Manchester, and having local relatives, died Dec. 5, 2008, at 3:50 a.m. at the Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester.

Mrs. Hoover graduated in May of 1937 from Manchester College, where she majored in English, business English, and library science. In the summer of 1938 she received her teaching licenses for Ohio and Indiana. From August 1938 through December 1939 she was a librarian and taught English at Elmhurst High School, Fort Wayne. Following her marriage in 1939, she was a homemaker and bookkeeper for Hoover Farms. She was a member of the Manchester Church of the Brethren.

She was born Nov. 18, 1916 in North Canton, OH, the daughter of Samuel and Alice Mishler Holl. She married H. Robert Hoover on Dec. 24, 1939. Her husband died Feb. 9, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, Steve Hoover, of Roanoke, and John Hoover, of Knoxville, TN; a daughter, Mary Ann Frey, of North Manchester; nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

A funeral service was held Dec. 12, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, with Rev. Kurt Borgmann and Rev. David Rogers officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery, North Manchester.
