Shively's 32 and 10 lead HU men over Marian

Sophomore Tyler Shively came off the bench and scored 32 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Huntington University men’s basketball team over visiting Marian College, 87-80, on Saturday, Feb. 21.

Shively, a guard, hit 12 of 18 from the field, including 5 of 7 from 3-point range, to help Huntington finish its regular season at 19-11 overall, and 8-8 in the Mid-Central College Conference.

The Foresters, who finished sixth in the MCC, will start the conference tournament against third-seed Grace, 20-9, on Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 7 p.m.

Kyle Benge pumped in 20 points and had six assists for HU, and Kellen Zawadzki and Luke Smith added 14 and 11 points, respectively.

The Foresters hit 28 of 57 shots for the contest for 49.1 percent, including 10 of 18 from 3-point range, and helped themselves even more at the free throw line, hitting 21 of 24 attempts for a tidy 87.5 percent.

They took a 42-39 lead into halftime on Senior Day.

Jordan Tucker of Marian led all scorers with 33 points. Alex Sylvester scored 11 for the visitors, 11-15.
