School board approves requests

The Huntington County Community School Corporation's Board of Trustees approved several requests during the board's regular meeting on Feb. 23, 2009.

They include:
• A field trip request for the Huntington North High School (HNHS) baseball team to participate in the Northern Indiana Baseball tournament in Elkhart April 10-11.

• The resignation of Alex Kock, a physical education teacher at HNHS.

• Leaves of absence from Janice Solloway, cashier at HNHS, from approximately Feb. 12 to March 12, and Elaine Carroll, resource assistant at Lincoln Elementary, Sept. 23-25.

• Donations to the following schools: Andrews - a Target grant awarded to Patty Jacobs in the amount of $800 to be used for a fifth-grade field trip to Indianapolis; Andrews - a grant from the Huntington County Community Foundation to Erin Holloway in the amount of $250 to purchase a digital music collection for movement and dance for the A.C.E.S. (Andrews Cardinals Exercising Simultaneously) before school exercise program; Roanoke - a Target grant awarded to Dena Bradburn in the amount of $800 to be used for a fourth-grade field trip to Camp Potawotami.

The following professional leaves were also approved. The list includes the name of the teacher or administrator, the school or building in which they work, the name of the conference and location where it will be held, and the date or dates of the conference.

• Carolyn Hill, Huntington-Whitley Special Services (HWSS), Indiana Association of School Psychologists spring Conference, Indianapolis, March 4.

The board was also informed that five individuals passed the GED test they had taken Dec. 2 and 3 in Huntington. They are: Relainna Dinius, of Fort Wayne; Scott Garretson, of Andrews; Adam Hormann, of Markle; Travis Kegg, of Warren; and Denver Ladyga, of Huntington.
