Rebecca A. Ridenour

Rebecca Ann Ridenour, 84, of Warren, died Dec. 4, 2008, at 10:58 a.m. at Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Ridenour graduated from Linlawn High School, Wabash, in 1941 and received her nursing degree from Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie, in 1945. She also received training as a nurse at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. She worked at Wabash County Hospital for five years, Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne for seven years, and as a visiting nurse in Fort Wayne for one year. She also worked at Turtle Creek Nursing Home in Fort Wayne for four years, retiring in 1974.

Mrs. Ridenour was a member of Taylor Chapel United Methodist Church, Fort Wayne, and was a volunteer in all church activities. She was also a volunteer for the Girl Scouts and P.T.A., and was involved with youth activities at her church. She had lived most of her life in Allen County before moving to Heritage Pointe in Warren on Oct. 3, 2006.

She was born Dec. 13, 1923 in Delaware County, to Waldo and Mildred Fager Shoemaker. She married Philip Ridenour on March 12, 1945, in Indianapolis. Her husband preceded her in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Sue Womack, of Collegeville, PA, and Janice Taylor, of Waterloo; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A funeral service was held Dec. 8, 2008, at Heritage Pointe in Warren, with Rev. Carol Schrope Scott officiating. A graveside committal service was held Dec. 8, 2008, at Highland Park Cemetery, Fort Wayne, with Rev. Dean Fager officiating. Interment followed.
