HU spikers sweep Bethel

The Huntington University volleyball team swept visiting Bethel College, 3-0, on Wednesday, Sept. 20.

The Foresters won by scores of 25-20, 25-10, 25-14 to up their record to 9-8, with a 4-3 mark in Crossroads League play.

Senior Danielle Gurwell spearheaded Huntington’s offensive effort with 14 kills. Senior Emily Hubby and junior Breanna Levings helped facilitate the scoring with 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Sophomore Elaine Bredensteiner chipped in four aces.

On the defensive side, senior Kate Cobb recorded 14 digs while Hubby registered 10. Senior Josie Beaver had a hand in four blocks.

Bethel, 8-12, 1-6 in league action, got six kills from Malerie Mech, eight assists from Payton Anderson and 18 digs from Erin Carlos.
