Thursday, October 19, 2017 11:38 AM
The Huntington University women’s soccer team came up short to host Grace College, 2-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 18.
While the Lancers got on the board in the game’s eighth minute, Forester goalkeeper Paige Coolman shut down their offense the remainder of the half, racking up five saves to send Huntington into the break down just 1-0.
The Foresters scored the equalizing goal at the 62:46 mark. Audra Klopfenstein passed to fellow senior Brandi Spear, who found the back of the net for her 10th goal of the season.
Grace countered, however, in the 79th minute, tallying what proved to be the game-winning goal.
Allison Vroon and Emma Neahusan tallied the Lancer goals, with Autumn Raulerson assisting on each.
Coolman took the loss in goal for Huntington, allowing the two scores while making the five stops.
Coolman’s Grace counterpart, Abby Schue, yielded Spear’s goal, but also recorded four saves to earn the win.
With the loss, the Foresters fall to 7-7-1, 3-3 in Crossroads League play. The Lancers improve to 6-6-3, 3-3 in league action.
