A ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Oct. 23, officially opened the Beauty Bar Beautique, downtown Huntington’s newest business.

Located at 414 N. Jefferson St., Beauty Bar specializes in hair styling as well as a unique way to tan, according to Misty Harrison, who, along with her husband, Travis Harrison, owns the salon.

“The new business will specialize in air brush spray-on tanning for a safe way to tan without those harmful ultraviolet lights that have been known to cause skin cancer,” Harrison says.

Harrison herself has undergone a scare from the traditional tanning bed method of getting an all-over tan without laying out in the sun. She has undergone multiple base-cell carcinoma operations from the beds, and says she wants to offer the spray-on tanning method as a safer alternative.

The full-service salon will be managed by stylist Kaitlyn Harrison, the Harrisons’ daughter-in-law. Services include haircuts, styles, shampoos, conditioners, rinses and coloring.

Hours are flexible. For more information or to schedule an appointment call 388-7859 or visit the salon’s Facebook page.
