HU spikers fall in four to IWU

The Huntington University volleyball team fell to host Indiana Wesleyan University, 1-3, on Wednesday, Oct. 25.

The Foresters opened the contest with a 25-20 win before suffering narrow defeats in the ensuing three sets to lose the match. Huntington fell 19-25, 21-25, 18-25.

Coach Kyle Shondell’s squad was paced on offense by Lauren Cresse and Danielle Gurwell, who registered 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Tailor Schultheis chipped in nine kills.

Jenna Tacosik supported their efforts with 37 assists.

Defensively, Huntington got double-digit dig totals from four different players. Kate Cobb led the way with 26 digs while Emily Hubby totaled 15, Ariene Butler produced 12 and Tacosik amassed 10.

Cresse and Josie Beaver each had a hand in five blocks.

With the loss, the Foresters fall to 12-18, 6-9 in Crossroads League play. The Wildcats improve to 22-8, 15-3 in conference.
