HU spikers lose to Marian

The Huntington University volleyball team fell to host Marian University, 0-3, on Saturday, Oct. 28.

While the match resulted in a sweep, the Foresters lost the three sets by just 10 points total. Huntington got edged by scores of 22-25, 20-25, 25-27.

The Foresters were paced by senior Danielle Gurwell and freshman Breanna Metz, who produced eight kills apiece. Freshman Jenna Tacosik supported their efforts with 27 assists.

Defensively, senior Kate Cobb logged 21 digs. Freshman Ariene Butler amassed 15 digs while seniors Emily Hubby and Mikayla Carpenter notched 11 and 10, respectively.

Senior Josie Beaver registered two solo blocks.

With the loss, Huntington falls to 13-19, 7-10 in Crossroads League play.

Marian, ranked 15th, improves to 26-4, 16-2 in conference. The Knights got 12 kills from Kaycee Salyers, 17 assists from Julie Hoying and 17 digs from Vanessa Lay.
