HU spikers wrap up reg. season with loss to Bethel

The Huntington University volleyball team wrapped up the regular season with an 0-3 loss to host Bethel College on Wednesday, Nov. 1.

The Foresters fell by scores of 19-25, 24-26, 22-25 to slip to 13-20, 7-11 in Crossroads League play. Huntington enters the league tournament as the six seed and will travel to third-seeded Grace College on Saturday, Nov. 4.

Senior Danielle Gurwell and freshman Breanna Metz paced Huntington’s offense with eight and seven kills, respectively. Freshman Jenna Tacosik facilitated the scoring with 22 assists.

Defensively, the Foresters got 15 digs from freshman Ariene Butler. Seniors Kate Cobb, Mikayla Carpenter and Emily Hubby chipped in 12, 10 and nine digs, respectively.

Junior Haley Longley logged a solo block and two blocking assists while freshman Lauren Cresse assisted on four blocks.

The Pilots, 14-20, 7-11 in league action, got 11 kills from Kassandra Williams, 32 assists from Payton Anderson and 18 digs from Payton Hart.
